General Information
The 11th International Conference on Passwords
5-7 December 2016
Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany
The Passwords conference was launched as a response to the lack of robustness and usability of current personal authentication practices and solutions. Starting as a small workshop in 2010, the event has seen a drastic growth of participants, more than doubling participation in the past three years. Starting in 2014, the conference accepts peer-reviewed papers that appear in the Springer LNCS series (2014 in Trondheim/Norway, LNCS 9393; 2015 in Cambridge/UK, LNCS 9551).
The conference goal is to gather researchers, password crackers, and enthusiastic experts from around the globe, with the aim to better understand the challenges surrounding the methods personal authentication and passwords, and how to adequately solve these problems. The Passwords conference series seek to provide a friendly environment for participants with plenty opportunity to communicate with the speakers before, during, and after their presentations.
The 2016 event is organized at the Ruhr-University Bochum, located within the well-known "Ruhr Area", Germany's former primary location for coal mining and steel industry. Although most coal mines have been closed, the hidden beauty of these old days has been preserved in many places.
